ABOUT US

We are Becca Buttigieg and Jody Hewston. Becca is a writer working on her first novel, and Jody is a writer and illustrator.

The two of us have always loved kid’s books, but that love became even more pronounced after the birth of our daughter, Emmylou, in 2009. We’re both massive readers in our own rights, so it was important to us that our daughter be surrounded by books and exposed to all different types of stories and characters, and understand what it is to create art. We quickly developed a large collection of books, and the pile of “favorites” next to our daughter’s bed got taller and taller.

After years of working on websites for other people in our joe jobs, we decided to collaborate on one for ourselves; after we made that decision, the subject matter was a no-brainer. We set up Kinderlit as a way of paying tribute to the stories and creators that captured our imaginations, and to perhaps draw some attention to the books that slipped through the cracks, so to speak: Those great works that, for one reason or another, failed to break through to the mainstream, but deserve a second chance to find their audience.

  1. Wow Becca and Jody – thank you! We’ve only just come across your beautiful award for Finding Serendipity – I’m so sorry this is news just now! Thank you both! We are both seriously delighted and kicking up our heels here in Tasmania. Hope you like the sequel A Week Without Tuesday too! It came out Feb in the US. Thank you again and love from both Heather and Danielle on behalf of Angelica Banks (you both clearly understand the art of collaboration!) XXX
